BOM

One of our DAM Girls, Lori Miller Designs, is running a Quilt Block of the month (BOM) this year. Starting in February, each month she is offering a FREE download of one of the blocks of her Grandma Town Row by Row Quilt.
Lori shared that her row by row quilt was a labor of love to celebrate her Iowa roots. She spent her childhood visiting her Grandparents on their farm just west of Des Moines in Earlham, Iowa. Her quilt is a special tribute to her dear Grandma.
Lori says “When my sisters, brother and I were little and my parents would drive us to my grandparents farm, my brother would yell, ‘We are going to Grandma Town!’ It was a loving tribute that stuck. This little quilt is full of those reminders of the farm and of Grandma, who loved to garden and loved to cook. Each block is a sweet memory of my youth growing up on that country farm.”
Hurry, her first block, a forget me not flower is free for download on craftsy only through Saturday, February 28th.
You can read more about it on her blog, lorimillerdesigns.com.

2015 CHARITY QUILTING BEE!!

Each month Rebekah will give us instructions and a color palette to make a block. In the spirit of modern quilting, most of the blocks will be improv based with a final size specification.  Then we have the option to make a block of our own and bring it to the following month’s meeting.   We’ll combine all of the finished blocks into a quilt that will be donated to one of our local charities.
This is a low pressure bee. If you want to make a block, bring it. If you want to make more than one, that’s great. If you’re out of time and can’t make a block, that’s fine, too.
February Block:  Inspiration Quilt
 color swatchlogcabin
Color scheme: lime green, navy, red, and aqua (modern prints or solids only)
Unfinished block size: 12.5″
Block instructions: Make an improv quarter square log cabin. Start with a small square and then add two identical strips to 2 sides of the square. Repeat until 12.5″ is reached.
Have fun and let Rebekah know if you have any questions!
