Charity Program

Our charity partners for 2026

Metro Detroit Share

This non-profit organization provides compassionate support to parents experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. One of their key initiatives is creating and donating memory boxes to hospitals across Michigan for families who have lost their babies due to TFMR, stillbirth, or complications shortly after birth.

Each box is thoughtfully curated with resources, self-care items, and meaningful keepsakes to honor the baby’s memory. Among these keepsakes is a soft blanket, which can be used to wrap the baby after birth and in family photos. This blanket becomes a cherished memento for parents to take home, offering comfort and a tangible connection to their child.

You can make and donate quilts for Metro Detroit Share at any time. Here are the guidelines:

  • Size: Approximately 18″ x 18″
  • Design: Soft colors or baby-themed prints
  • Condition: Quilts must be new to meet hospital standards

Completed quilts can be given to Bailey Ayers-Korpal.

Peggy’s Place (Detroit)

Quilts are made and donated Peggy’s Place, a program within COTS (Creating Opportunities to Succeed), to be shared with families in need.

COTS is dedicated to building strong, stable households, neighborhoods, and communities. Through strategic partnerships, they help families achieve housing stability, economic independence, health, education, and career goals—empowering them to overcome homelessness and break the cycle of poverty for future generations.

friends!

The Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild (DAMQG) is a vibrant community of quilters in the Metro Detroit area who share a passion for modern design. Our work ranges from reimagining traditional patterns with bold, contemporary fabrics to creating completely improvisational pieces without patterns.

Our meetings are full of creativity and inspiration, featuring local speakers, hands-on demonstrations, fun challenges, swaps, and—everyone’s favorite—Show & Tell! Members also enjoy occasional weekend sew-ins, workshops, and retreats that foster learning and connection.

Founded in January 2013, DAMQG is proud to be a branch of the Modern Quilt Guild. We welcome new members of all skill levels—come join us and be part of our modern quilting community!
