Our DAM Charity Bee block for February is inspired by Kati Spencer’s Woven quilt featured in the book Scraps, Inc.  We’ll make a smaller version of her beautiful improv style block using a crisp, early spring color palette called Mines.  Bring your blocks to our March meeting where Donna A has volunteered to combine them into a quilt (or two?) to be donated to our local hospital.

Kati’s Woven quilt can be seen on her blog From the Blue Chair
Rachel Hauser has a Woven block tutorial on her blog Stitched in Color

The Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild (DAMQG) is a vibrant community of quilters in the Metro Detroit area who share a passion for modern design. Our work ranges from reimagining traditional patterns with bold, contemporary fabrics to creating completely improvisational pieces without patterns.

Our meetings are full of creativity and inspiration, featuring local speakers, hands-on demonstrations, fun challenges, swaps, and—everyone’s favorite—Show & Tell! Members also enjoy occasional weekend sew-ins, workshops, and retreats that foster learning and connection.

Founded in January 2013, DAMQG is proud to be a branch of the Modern Quilt Guild. We welcome new members of all skill levels—come join us and be part of our modern quilting community!
