The Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild (DAMQG) is a vibrant community of quilters in the Metro Detroit area who share a passion for modern design. Our work ranges from reimagining traditional patterns with bold, contemporary fabrics to creating completely improvisational pieces without patterns.

Our meetings are full of creativity and inspiration, featuring local speakers, hands-on demonstrations, fun challenges, swaps, and—everyone’s favorite—Show & Tell! Members also enjoy occasional weekend sew-ins, workshops, and retreats that foster learning and connection.

Founded in January 2013, DAMQG is proud to be a branch of the Modern Quilt Guild. We welcome new members of all skill levels—come join us and be part of our modern quilting community!

✨ Guild Meeting Recap ✨ The Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild (DAMQG) meets the first Tuesday of every month. Can’t wait to see everyone! Holiday party recap time! Hi friends! Just a reminder that DAMQG will not be having our regular monthly meeting tomorrow, because we’re doing a holiday party for our members this month instead. https://www.instagram.com/p/DRSgoUDjopn/ Show & tell, part 2: everything but the quilts! This month’s meeting was our 2026 board elections; congrats to president Maribeth, co-VPs Alicon & Tiffany, treasurer Amanda, and secretary Crystal! Wow, y’all, we had such a fun retreat this last weekend! We had a Halloween party on Friday - where Rebecca won the costume contest with this super creative bobbin costume - and then transitioned to making Christmas bows on Saturday. We made so many gorgeous bags and quilt tops (and spent so much money at the local quilt shops!)
