Boy, has this weather been crazy or what!!?? Our first guild meeting of the new year was postponed due to all of the snow. We quickly rescheduled for the following week and got the ball rolling again. The January meeting was somewhat of a transition meeting where new board members were nominated and elected into office. Our new President is Vicky Gaines, our new Vice-President is Donna Armstrong, our new Secretary is Sue Chase and our new Treasurer is Amanda O’Malley. Congratulations and here’s to a great year.
We would like to give our Inaugural Board members a big THANK YOU!!! President, Joyce Montante, Vice-President, Maureen Walsh, Secretary, Huong Chim and Treasurer, Erica Brehmer. Starting a new Guild can be fun, exciting and interesting, but we also know that it can be a lot of pressure, stress and craziness. All of us appreciate all of the time that these board members spent in pulling The Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild together. -Partnered with ChildSafe Michigan as our Charity organization – Sock Monkeys and pillowcases
-Hosted an amazing Christmas Party
-Created a DAM Quilt Guild Logo
-Created a Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild Blog
-Created a Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild Facebook page
-Secured over 20 new memberships
-Shared many great ideas and projects through our monthly Show-N-Tell
-Participating in Riley Blake Challenge
-Secret Sisters were exchanged
-Pulled together a Hexi-class and invited Guest speakers to Guild meetings
And lots of FUN and Friendships were formed!! Wow. We sure were busy!
